Energy Program Analyst
About the Role:
Olivine is seeking a mission-driven, customer-focused analyst to support our portfolio of Grid Emergency and Demand Response programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in hands-on learning about the stability of the energy grid, the development of operational processes, and to build tools that aid in program operations and contribute to a cleaner, more reliable electric grid. You will collaborate across teams including Solutions Engineering, Product and Business Development and have the opportunity to development, implement, and optimize processes that support grid reliability during emergencies. This position requires a blend of analytical, technical, and organizational skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Process Design: Develop and improve processes for program operations, focusing on automating workflows to reduce errors and increase efficiency.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Create and deliver reports on resource dispatches, grid events, enrollment, and program performance for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Customer Enrollment and Compliance: Design and implement scalable enrollment and compliance processes for customer participation in utility programs.
- Tool and Dashboard Development: Build data visualization tools and dashboards (using Python, SQL, Excel, etc.) to track and communicate program metrics.
- Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify process risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation and process improvement.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with Solutions Engineering Business Development, Product, and other teams to support operational initiatives and enhance customer experience.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Support strategic projects through data collection, analysis, and insights to drive Olivine’s mission of sustainable energy solutions.
- Platform Operations: Become an expert in Olivine’s cloud-based Distributed Energy Resources platform and conduct critical program operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Energy Systems, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience in data analysis, technical consulting, policy analysis, utility program operations, energy modeling, engineering, process improvement, technical operations, or other relevant roles.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel analysis and modeling.
- Basic proficiency in Python, R, or Julia for data processing and analysis.
- Experience with large datasets, demonstrating strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited supervision.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability and enthusiasm to learn new skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with others.
- Attention to detail and ability to complete operational tasks reliably.
- Preferred:
- Advanced proficiency in Python or other programming languages.
- Basic SQL proficiency.
- Experience with other data engineering or data science tools.
- Experience writing requirements for software development, or testing software development features.
- Experience in the energy or utility sector, particularly with Renewable Energy, Demand Response, electricity policy, or Distributed Energy programs.
- Familiarity with grid stability concepts and wholesale electricity markets ,such as the California ISO. CAISO
- Background in working with Business Intelligence tools and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Project planning skills to manage concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines.
Type: Full-time, Salaried
Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000, dependent on experience
Reports To: Manager of Program Ops & Analytics
